On February 17, 2014, Cigna began using ClaimsXten™, a rules-based software application that evaluates claims for adherence to industry-standard coding practices based mainly on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and American Medical Association (AMA) guidelines. ClaimsXten replaces McKesson ClaimCheck® as Cigna’s code review tool.
As a result of this initiative, a new version of Clear Claim Connection will become available externally to health care professionals on February 27, 2014. This new version will be enhanced by ClaimsXten's ability to apply industry-standard coding practices.
