Aetna terminated their payer relationship with Midlands Choice as of April 1, 2014. Since Aetna no longer uses the Midlands Choice network of providers or contracted pricing, all claim and provider issues must be addressed directly with Aetna. Because Aetna is no longer a business associate with Midlands Choice, sharing Aetna members’ personal health information (PHI) with Midlands Choice may violate laws enforced under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
